Scotland’s transfer deadline day produced an unusual amount of activity this year. Most leagues will be familiar with the last minute frenzy, but Scottish fans are rarely treated to more than a footnote. Something we have all become used to as, ever since the window was introduced, our owners have never possessed two collective pennies to rub together. Well this year the chairman and chief executives must have raided their savings right down to their Grandson’s piggy banks because eight different SPL clubs finalised deals on the very last day.

The last weekend of August saw many of the early season trends continue in Ligue 1.
Toulouse won their fourth match in a row and they top the leader board. Rennes and Montpellier continue to impress and remain tied for the second spot.
On the other end of the spectrum league powers Lyon and Marseille continue to struggle and Paris Saint-Germain suddenly find they are unable to stop their opponents.

At last La Liga is back! I still haven't quite gotten over the World Cup, and the amount of games and news is a bit overwhelming. But all in all, it is great to live and breathe the beautiful game in Spain.
